SAFEGUARDING AT G&E IN A BOTTLE
G&E in a Bottle is fully committed to promoting children’s rights, especially their right to be protected from harm, abuse and exploitation and to be involved in any decisions that directly affect them. We understand that we have a duty of care to implement effective policies and procedures for safeguarding the welfare of children and young people.

SENCOGOOD PRACTICE, OUR ORGANISATION WILL:
Appoint two designated people (nominated safeguarding children’s advisor and someone to deputise for them) to enable any concerns to be reported in accordance with our procedures.
Review our policy and good practice at regular intervals.
Share information about concerns with agencies who need to know, and involving parents and children appropriately.
Ensure that the The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), in accordance with their guidelines, checks all staff and volunteers with responsibility for children.
Develop best practice in relation to the recruitment of all workers (paid staff and volunteers).
Provide opportunities for all workers to develop their skills and knowledge by providing information, guidance and training
Ensure that parents/carers are encouraged to be involved in the work of the organisation and, when requested, have access to all policies and procedures.
Ensure that children and young people are enabled to express their ideas and views on a wide range of issues and will have access to the organisations policies and procedures.

Conduct and Complaints procedure. Furthermore we will endeavour to keep up-to-date with national developments relating to the care and protection of children and young people.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS
We will ensure that staff and volunteers at G&E in a bottle:
are carefully selected, screened, trained and supervised
are aware of the problem of child abuse
safeguard children from abuse through good practice
report all concerns about possible abuse
respond appropriately when abuse is discovered or suspected
are aware of child protection policies and procedures.
understand their obligations to report care or protection concerns about a child/young person, to the organisations designated child protection person for child protection by providing training and guidance
receive information on the relevant legislation that the organisation must adhere to.
We will also provide workers at G&E in a Bottle with opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge by:
- providing access to the organisations policies and procedures
- providing links to organisations who can provide information e.g. Local councils. CRBS, Citizens Advice etc
- providing relevant training and support on the workers initial and future roles within the organisation
- providing relevant training and support on specific areas such as Health and Safety and confidentiality
- G&E adheres to Ealing’s Child Protection Procedures and Policies (the Yellow Book).
